The difference between a mediocre AI image and a stunning one is almost always the prompt. Here are techniques that consistently produce better results across all ImgGPT models.
Prompt Structure
A well-structured prompt has four components:
1. Subject
What is the main focus? Be specific. "A woman" is vague. "A professional photographer in her 30s holding a vintage film camera" gives the model something to work with.
2. Setting/Environment
Where is the subject? "In a sunlit studio with exposed brick walls and large windows" creates context. Without a setting, the model invents one randomly.
3. Style
How should the image look? "Photorealistic," "watercolor painting," "3D render," "flat illustration," "cinematic film still" — the style directive shapes everything about the output.
4. Technical Details
Camera angle, lighting, color palette, mood. "Shot from a low angle, warm golden hour lighting, shallow depth of field, soft bokeh in the background."
Model-Specific Tips
Flux Models
Flux responds well to detailed, descriptive prompts. Be explicit about what you want. Mentioning camera settings ("shot on 35mm film," "f/1.8 aperture") and lighting conditions produces more photorealistic results.
Seedream Models
Seedream is tuned for aesthetics. Use terms like "beautiful," "aesthetic," "high-end photography," "editorial style." Seedream interprets these aesthetic keywords better than most models.
Recraft Models
Recraft needs explicit text placement instructions. If you want text in the image, put it in quotes within the prompt: 'A store sign that reads "COFFEE HOUSE" in elegant serif font.' Be specific about font style and placement.
Kontext Models
Kontext prompts should describe what you want changed, not the entire scene. If editing an existing image: "Change the background to a beach sunset" or "Make the outfit a red dress" works better than re-describing the entire image.
Common Mistakes
Too Vague
"A beautiful landscape" gives the model no direction. Be specific: "A misty mountain lake at dawn, with pine trees reflected in still water, Pacific Northwest atmosphere."
Too Long and Contradictory
A prompt with 20 different instructions often produces confused results. Focus on the most important elements. If your prompt is longer than 3 sentences, consider simplifying.
Ignoring Negative Concepts
If you keep getting unwanted elements, add what you do not want at the end: "No text, no watermarks, no borders."
Iteration Strategy
Start Cheap
Test prompts with Flux Schnell (1 credit). Generate 3-4 variations. Evaluate what is working and what is not.
Refine the Prompt
Adjust based on what the cheap model produced. Add details that were missing, remove instructions that created unwanted effects.
Upgrade the Model
Once your prompt is producing good compositions, switch to a higher-quality model (Flux Pro, Seedream 4, or Kontext Pro) for the final output.
Prompt Patterns That Work
Product Photography
"Professional product photo of [item], centered on a clean white background, studio lighting, commercial photography style, sharp focus, high resolution"
Portrait
"Professional headshot of [description], neutral background, soft diffused lighting, slight smile, shot at f/2.8, editorial portrait photography"
Landscape
"[Location/scene description], golden hour, dramatic sky, wide angle lens, landscape photography, vibrant colors, high dynamic range"
Logo/Brand
"Minimalist logo design for [brand], [style] aesthetic, clean lines, [color] palette, professional brand identity" (use Recraft for this)
The best prompts are specific, structured, and matched to the right model.
