Credits are your currency for AI features on ImgGPT. Here are ten practical ways to get more value from every credit you spend.

1. Test Prompts with Flux Schnell (1 Credit)

Never test a new prompt on an expensive model. Flux Schnell costs just 1 credit and generates in seconds. Use it to test composition, layout, and overall concept. Once your prompt produces good results, switch to a higher-quality model.

2. Use Free Tools Instead of AI When Possible

Many edits do not require AI at all:

  • Need to adjust colors? Use the free Hue/Saturation tool instead of regenerating.
  • Need a different crop? Use the free Crop tool.
  • Need a different background color? Use the free Change Background tool.
  • Need to sharpen? Try the free enhance options before using AI credits.
Every free edit you make is a credit saved. Reserve AI credits for tasks that only AI can do.

3. Refine Prompts Before Upgrading Models

Spend 3-5 Flux Schnell generations (3-5 credits) perfecting your prompt before spending 8-15 credits on Kontext Pro or Max. The final result will be better AND cheaper.

4. Use Kontext Dev-Fast (4 Credits) Before Pro (8 Credits)

Kontext Dev-Fast produces good results for most identity-preserving edits. Only upgrade to Kontext Pro (8 credits) or Max (15 credits) when Dev-Fast does not meet your quality requirements.

5. Choose Inpainting Over Cleanup for Simple Erases

The Magic Eraser has two modes:

  • Inpainting — 1 credit. Fills with surrounding colors. Good for removing simple objects on uniform backgrounds.
  • Cleanup — 4 credits. Smart AI cleanup. Better for complex scenes.

For simple removals (blemish on a white background, object on a solid surface), inpainting at 1 credit works fine.

6. Match Model to Task

Do not use Recraft V4 Pro (50 credits) for an image that does not need text rendering. Do not use Hunyuan 3 (20 credits) when Flux Dev (3 credits) produces equivalent results for your use case.

Quick guide:

  • General images → Flux Dev (3 credits)
  • High quality → Flux Pro (5 credits)
  • Portraits → Seedream 4 (6 credits)
  • Text in images → Recraft V3 (8 credits)
  • Identity edits → Kontext Dev-Fast (4 credits)

7. Save to Projects to Avoid Re-Generating

Every image you generate should be saved to a project immediately. If you lose the file and need to regenerate, that is wasted credits. Projects preserve your work with version history.

8. Build on Previous Results

Instead of generating from scratch each time, use Kontext models to iterate on existing results. Upload a previous generation and describe the changes you want. This is often cheaper and produces better results than starting over.

9. Buy Credit Packs for Volume

If you regularly run out of monthly credits, credit packs offer additional credits at competitive rates. They do not expire when your subscription renews.

10. Use Version History to Avoid Rework

The project system tracks every version of every image. If you processed an image through three tools and do not like the final result, go back to version 2 instead of starting from scratch. This saves both time and the credits you would spend re-generating.

These ten tips can easily double the effective value of your monthly credits.
