Color adjustments can transform an image. Make a dull photo vibrant, fix a color cast, create a monochrome effect, or completely recolor an image.

Understanding the Controls

Hue

Shifts all colors around the color wheel. A 180° shift turns every color into its complement. Subtle shifts (5-15°) correct color casts from artificial lighting.

Saturation

Controls color intensity:

  • 0 — Completely grayscale
  • 100 — Normal
  • 110-130 — Enhanced, vibrant
  • 150+ — Oversaturated, usually too much

Lightness

Global brightness adjustment. Negative darkens, positive brightens.

For most corrections, try saturation at 110-120 and lightness at +5 to +10 for a subtle but noticeable improvement.

Colorize Mode

Replaces all colors with a single tint for monochrome effects:

  • Sepia tone — Warm brown for vintage look
  • Brand color overlay — Consistent visual identity
  • Duotone effects — Modern design aesthetic
  • Mood effects — Blue for cold/night, warm orange for sunset

Color Correction Tips

Fixing Indoor Color Casts

Fluorescent lights create green/yellow casts. Shift hue 5-15° toward magenta/blue to correct.

Making Flat Photos Pop

Boost saturation to 115-125 and lightness by 5-10 for more visual energy.

Creating Mood

Desaturate to 60-80 and darken slightly for a moody, cinematic feel.
