Setting Up Your Watermark

Text

Enter your name, business name, website URL, or copyright notice like "© 2026 Your Name."

Font Size

Start around 10-15% of image width. Visible enough to deter theft, subtle enough not to ruin the photo.

Opacity

The most important setting:

  • 100% — Solid, clearly visible. Good for client proofs.
  • 30-50% — Semi-transparent. Sweet spot for portfolios and social media.
  • 10-20% — Very subtle. Establishes ownership without distracting.
For portfolio images, try white text at 30-40% opacity in the bottom right corner.

Position

  • Bottom right — Most common, least intrusive
  • Center — Maximum protection, obscures subject. Use for proofs.
  • Tiled — Repeats across the entire image. Strongest protection against cropping.

Color

White works on dark images, black on light ones. Semi-transparent white with slight shadow works on mixed backgrounds.

When to Watermark

  • Portfolio displays for ownership
  • Client proofs before final delivery
  • Social media for public image protection
  • Stock photography previews

When Not to Watermark

  • Final paid deliverables
  • Images you want shared widely
